Our Staff
An Independent Living Specialist (ILS) is a strong voice for disability rights and independent living; their primary role is to assist consumers in maintaining their lives independently in the community. He/she collaborates with community agencies to best assist the consumer in reaching their goals for independent living.
An ILS provides the following independent living core services: Information and Referral, Individual Advocacy, Personal Assistance Services, Housing Assistance, Peer Support, Student and Nursing home transition services, and independent living skills training.
Our staff can provide information on a broad range of programs and services designed to help understand the various long-term and short-term options available to a person with a disability. They have the ability to connect Delawareans that have disabilities with those benefits, community services and resources that will promote independence.
