Economic Stimulus Payments: for Recipients of Social Security Benefits 05/28/08
If you have not filed a 2007 tax return, you still need to file a Form 1040A to receive the Economic Stimulus payment. You are eligible for a payment if you have a total of $3,000 or more in qualifying income.
Qualifying income is to total income from:
- Earned income (Form W2)
- Social Security benefit (including, Social Security disability benefits)
- Certain Railroad retirement benefits
- Certain Veterans benefits
- Non taxable combat pay
If you qualify, you will receive a payment of $300 ($600 if married filing jointly). In addition, you will also receive an additional payment of $300 for each qualifying child. If you have already filed a 2007 tax return, there is nothing else you need to do to receive your Economic Stimulus payment.
